Sugarbeet Tours Set For Summer |

The North Dakota State University Extension Service will be holding sugarbeet tours throughout the red river valley and Minnesota this summer. The tours are open to the public. The following is a list of dates, times and directions.
June 24 Morris, Minn.: Tours will start at 10 a..m. Take highway 59 south of Morris 5 1/2 miles, go one mile east on Stevens county road 78, then south on 470th Ave. to a sign reading 30085, go west into building site.
June 24 Raymond, Minn.: The tour will start at 3 p.m. Go one mile north of Raymond on Kandiyohi county road 7, then 3/4 mile west.
July 1 Fargo: The sugarbeet weed tour will start at 1:30 p.m. The tour is located north of the airport on county road 20.
July 2 Norcross: The sugarbeet weed control tour will start at 9:30 a.m. To reach the tour go north by the old Cenex station in Norcross for four miles, then 1/2 mile east to the curve and continue north on the paved road until road turns east. Turn onto gravel road going north, just south of Carlson airport hanger. Take the first gravel road one mile west and then 3/4 mile south. An alternate route to the tour is to go east from Charlesville on gravel for four miles to the paved road. Go north to where road turns east and follow the directions above.
July 3 Amenia: The day will start at 9 a.m. with the sugarbeet weed tour. To reach the tour go four miles north of Casselton to mile marker 80, then go one mile west and 1 1/2 mile north. The plots are on the west side of the road.
July 7 Wahpeton: The sugarbeet weed control tour will start at 6 p.m. To reach the tour go 1 1/2 miles north on highway 13 east of I-29 at exit 23. The plots are located on the north side of the road.
July 10 University of Minn.: The tour will start at 1 p.m. and be held at the Northwest Resarch and Outreach Center, Crookston. The focus will be on sugarbeets and small grains, and is north of Crookston on highway 75.
July 16 Glasston and St. Thomas: The sugarbeet root maggot and weed control tour will start at 9:30 a.m. in Glasston. The plots are located 6 1/2 miles east of Glaston, on the south side of the road. An alternate route is to take exit 196 off of I-29 and go west five miles. To reach the St. Thomas plots go 1 1/2 mile west on the gravel road at the intersection of highway 66 and highway 81.
