NDSU Center In Streeter Sets Field Tour For June 25

The North Dakota State University’s Central Grasslands Research Extension Center in Streeter will hold its annual field tour, Wednesday, June 25. Highlights will include information on drought management, soil health and optimal calving time.

The tour will begin at 6 p.m. The center is located four miles north of Streeter, or 11 miles south of I-94 on Highway 30, take Stutsman County Road 38 and drive five miles west and one-quarter mile south. The tour will start at the office near the livestock unit and last until approximately 8:30 p.m.

NDSU specialists will discuss drought management, soil health, growth and nutritional status of cool and warm season grasses and the affect of labor availability on the optimal calving season. USDA researchers will also be talking about switch grass production for ethanol in the Northern Plains and the longevity of alfalfa varieties.

The tour is open to the public. Participants will receive a free roast beef supper following the tour. The supper along with door prizes will be held at the Streeter Memorial Hall and is sponsored by the Central Grasslands Research Extension Center.
