Farmer Owned Ethanol Plants…….

New Generation Cooperatives may be combined with, converted to or organized as limited liability companies or partnerships.

ACE Ethanol, LLC, located in Stanley, WI is a farmer owned facility. It began operation in 2002 producing 15 million gallons of ethanol yearly. An expansion is planned for Fall 2004.

Adkins Energy Cooperative, located near Lena, Ill, was formed with 349 members made up of producers and local investors from twelve counties in Southern Wisconsin and Northern Illinois. The 40 million gallon facility created 70 new jobs and utilize more than 11 million bushels of corn each year. The plant cost $63 million to build. Ag Processing, Inc, located near Omaha, Neb, is a farmer-owned cooperative engaged in the procurement, processing, marketing, and transportation of grains and grain products. Since its formation in 1983, AGP has been committed to the success of its owners. Today, its membership includes 302 local and 12 regional cooperatives representing 300,000 farmers from 16 states and Canada. It owns an ethanol plant in Hastings, NE that produces 52 million gallons per year of ethanol. http://www.agp.com/

Agra Resources Cooperative-EXOL is located near Albert Lea, MN. This New Generation Cooperative has 496 members. The  plant started production in 1999 and produces 40 million gallons of ethanol annually. http://www.exolmn.com.

Agri-Energy, LLC, located near Luverne, MN, was opened in 1998. It produces 21 million gallons of ethanol yearly. This plant is owned by a farmer cooperative, along with other individual investors, totaling 196 members.. The farmer cooperative is Cornerstone Cooperative, which was founded with 201 members from Minnesota, South Dakota and Iowa. http://www.buycorn.com

Al-Corn Clean Fuel, located near Claremont MN. The plant is owned by 355 local farmers and investors.  Production started in 1996 with 28 employees. Originally the plant was able to produce 10 million gallons of ethanol, and now produces 30 million gallons of ethanol yearly.  http://www.al-corn.com

Badger State Ethanol is located near Monroe Wis. The farmer (61%) and investor owned plant started production mid- October 2002 and is producing 40 million gallons or more of ethanol and 128,000 tons of distillers grains each year. http://www.badgerstateethanol.com

Big River Resources, LLC is located near West Burlington, IA. This plant will produce 40 million gallons of ethanol when construction is completed in spring 2004.

Central Illinois Energy Cooperative is located near Canton IL. This plant will use 11 million bushels of corn to produce 30 million gallons of ethanol when construction is completed in 2004.  http:// www.centralillinoisenergy.com/

Central Minnesota Ethanol Cooperative is located near Little Falls, MN. This New Generation Cooperative has 820 members. Production began in March 1999. Yearly ethanol production is 22 million gallons per year. CMEC purchases approximately 7.5 million bushels of corn per year from a 80 mile radius. http://www.centralmnethanol.com

Chippewa Valley Ethanol, LLC is located near Benson, MN. The plant began production in 1996, with over 850 shareholders made up of producers, elevators and local investors. They produce 42 million gallons of ethanol yearly. http://www.cvec.com.

Commonwealth Agri-Energy, LLC, located near Hopkinsville, KY, will produce 20 million gallons of ethanol when the plant is completed. This plant is owned by Hopkinsville Grain Cooperative. Completion is scheduled for Spring 2004.

Cornhusker Energy Lexington, LLC, is located near Lexington, NE. This plant is still under construction, but opening is planned for June 2004. It will produce 42 million gallons when in full production. The typical level of investment for a 40 million gallon facility is about $50 million. It will employ 30+ individuals, will have an annual payroll exceeding $1 million, and will process about 15 million bushels of corn annually.

Corn Plus is located near Winnebago, MN started production in 1994, currently producing 44 million gallons of ethanol annually. Corn Plus is a farmer-owned cooperative with 750 members.

Dakota Ethanol, LLC, located near Wentworth, SD, began operation in 2001. The cost of the ethanol project was $40 million. Operating as a New Generation Cooperative with 900 members, they produce 47 million gallons of ethanol annually. The plant employees 35 people.  http://www.dakotaethanol.com.

DENCO, LLC, (Diversified Energy Co., LLC) located near Morris MN, produces 20 million gallons of ethanol annually. This New Generation Cooperative started production in 1999 and have 345 members.

Ethanol 2000 LLP, located near Bingham Lake, MN, opened in 1997, is a limited liability partnership that was formed by Southwest Minnesota Agrifuels Cooperative and Broin Enterprises, Inc. This New Generation Cooperative has 241 members. Each member of the cooperative had to purchase a minimum of 5000 shares of stock in the cooperative at $2.00 per share for a minimum investment of $10,000. Members are obligated to deliver 1 bushel of corn per share to the plant annually. The $19 million( $17.5 million for plant, $1.5 million for start up costs) plant was originally designed to produce 11,500,000 gallons of ethanol per year using 4,259,259 bushels of corn. Twenty-eight new jobs were created, and the economic impact being generated was approximately $7.5 million.

Expansion to the plant was started in 1999, and finished in less than a year. The total ethanol produced per year is now 30 million gallons. Glacial Lakes Energy, LLC is located near Watertown, SD. They started production in 2002 and are currently producing 45 million gallons of ethanol. GLE consumes more than 14 million bushels of corn per year. GLCP is a South Dakota Cooperative comprised over 825 members who have invested in Glacial Lakes Energy, LLC. Golden Cheese Company of California, located near Corona CA, produces 5 million gallons of ethanol from cheese whey.   http://www.goldencheese.com

Golden Grain Energy, LLC, is located near Mason City IA. This plant, owned by 500 farmers, is currently under construction. It will process 15 million bushels of corn into 40 million gallons of ethanol and 120,000 tons of distillers dried grains with solubles (DDGS) annually. The plant will create 32 new jobs with a $1.7 million annual payroll. Ethanol production is scheduled to begin in March 2005. The increase of corn price to the farmers should increase local farm income more than $6.5 million. It is projected that total plant operations will add $50 to $60 million in new economic activity for the region.

Golden Triangle Energy Cooperative is located near Craig MO. This plant is currently under construction. The plant will utilize approximately 6 million bushels of corn and milo to make 14 million gallons of ethanol. The plant will employ 32 people. http://www.goldentriangleenergy.com/

Great Plains Ethanol, LLC is located near Chancellor SD. The plant opened for production in 2003. It produces 40 million gallons of ethanol using 15 million bushels of   corn.

Heartland Corn Products, located near Winthrop MN is a farmer owned cooperative with 692 members. Production started in 1995. Production was expanded in 2000 from 15 million gallons 35 million gallons of ethanol annually.

Heartland Grain Fuels, LP, is located in Aberdeen, SD and Huron, SD. The combined plants produce 22 million gallons of ethanol yearly.

Husker Ag, LLC is located near Plainview NE. There were over 500 investors in the plant.  The plant began production in 2003 and is buying approximately 8 million bushels of corn to produce 20 million gallons of ethanol annually. The plant created 29 new jobs.  http://www.huskerag.com.

Iowa Ethanol, LLC is located near Hanlontown, IA. This plant is currently being built. It will produce 45 million gallons of ethanol yearly using 16 million bushels of corn. It will employ 35-40 people. The cost is approximately $60 million. The plant should be ready for production by July 2004. This is the 15th ethanol plant to be built in Iowa.

KAAPA Ethanol, LLC  is located near Axtell, NE, is under construction and is expected to be in operation in Feb 2004. The plant will process 16 million bushels of corn to produce 40 million gallons of ethanol yearly. The plant is expected to employ 32 people.  http://www.kaapaethanol.com

Land O’Lakes is located near Melrose, MN this plant uses cheese whey to produce 3 million gallons of ethanol.

Lincolnland Agri-Energy, LLC, located in Robinson, Ill, is owned by 454 farmers. The plant produces 40 million gallons ethanol early. The project is to be completed by summer 2004. The plant will use about 16 million bushels of corn a year and employ 38 people

Little Sioux Corn Processors, LP, is located near Marcus IA. Opened in 2003, this farmer owned plant processes 16 million bushels of corn to produce 40 million gallons of ethanol annually. Little Sioux Corn Processors brings a $52 million investment and 29 new jobs to the area.

Midwest Grain Processors, located near Lakota, Iowa. Production started in 2002. Annual ethanol production is 45 million gallons using 15 million bushels of corn. . The plant employs approximately 48 employees. MGP is one of the largest farmer-owned ethanol plants in the country. http://www.mgpethanol.com/

Mid Missouri Energy LLC, located near Malta Bend, MO broke ground in the fall of 2003. The 720 farmer-owned facility will process 15 million bushels of corn into 40 million gallons of ethanol annually. The plant will employ 35 people. Minnesota Energy is located near Buffalo Lake, MN. The plant began production in 1997, producing 19 million gallons of ethanol annually.  This New Generation Cooperative has 325 members.

Northeast Iowa Grain Processors located near Earlville, IA began production in 2003. They are producing 15 million gallons of ethanol annually.

Northeast Missouri Grain, LLC is located near Macon MO. Production started in 2000 with annual production at 20 million gallons per year. http://www.nemog.com/

Northern Lights Ethanol, LLC is located near Big Stone City, SD. It is jointly owned by Northern Growers Cooperative and Broin & Associates. Northern Growers Cooperative consists of 650 member shareholders. The equity drive raised 14.7 million of the $48 million cost of the project.  NLE started production in 2002. The plant produces 45 million gallons of ethanol annually using 14.3 million bushels of corn. The plant employees 34 people http://www.northernlightsethanol.com/

Otter Creek Ethanol, LLC is located near Ashton, IA. The plant is scheduled to open August 2004. The plant will produce 45 million gallons of ethanol using 16 million bushels of corn. The majority of this plant is owned by farmers.

Pine Lake Corn Processors, LLC, located near Steamboat, IA have 350 members/investors. They expect to start production in fall 2004. The plant will produce 30 gallons of ethanol yearly.

Platte Valley Fuel Ethanol LLC, located near Central City NE, will produce 40 million gallons of ethanol yearly. The plant is expected to open spring 2004.

Pro Corn LLC is located near Preston, MN. Production started in 1998 with production level at 15 million gallons of ethanol annually, an expansion in brought the total production to 40 million gallons. This is primarily a farmer owned cooperative with 159 members.

Quad County Corn Processors located near Galva, IA is producing 18 million gallons of ethanol per year. The QCCPC has over 416 members. It is organized and operated on a cooperative basis as a producer of ethanol from corn.  The plant started production in 2002 using over 6.8 million bushels of corn per year.  http://www.quad-county.com.

Siouxland Energy & Livestock Cooperative is located near Sioux Center IA. This plant began production in 2001 and produces 14 million gallons of ethanol annually. http://www.selc1.com

Sioux River Ethanol, LLC is located near Hudson SD. The plant is expected to begin production in Spring 2004. The plant will produce 45 million gallons of ethanol yearly. The LLC is made up of 500 investors, mainly farmers.

Tall Corn Ethanol, Farmer owned, is located near Coon Rapids, IA The plant produces 40 million gallons of ethanol yearly.

Tri-State Ethanol Company, farmer owned, is located near Rosholt, SD. The plant produces 15 million gallons of ethanol yearly.

United Wisconsin Grain Producers, LLC, will be located near Friesland, WI. The facility will produce 40 million gallons of ethanol. There are 745 farmer/investors. A 2004/5 opening is expected.

Western Plains Energy, LLC is located near Campus KS. The plant is expected to start producing in summer 2004. The plant will produce 45 million gallons of ethanol using corn and grain sorghum.

Farmer owned Ethanol Facilities in production or construction now/will produce a total of 4,745 million gallons of ethanol per year. The total ethanol production is currently 6,770 million gallons per year.
