Dry Bean Varieties
Avalanche (2008)
Avalanche is a medium maturing, high yielding navy bean, with very good seed size, shape, and appearance. It is erect (Type II, short vine), with good lodging resistance. Avalanche exhibits good synchronous plant dry-down prior to harvest.
Lariat (2007)
Lariat is a medium maturing, high yielding pinto bean, with excellent seed size, shape, and appearance. Is erect (Type II upright, short vine), with pods throughout the canopy. Lariat has very good lodging resistance and exhibits very good synchronous plant drydown prior to harvest.
Stampede (2007)
Stampede is a Medium-early maturing pinto bean, high yielding pinto bean, with very good seed size, shape, and appearance. Is erect (Type II upright, short vine), with good lodging resistance, with pods located throughout the plant canopy.
Eclipse (2004)
Eclipse is a black bean with medium maturity, very erect, tall growth, and good resistance to lodging.
Arthur (2000)
Arthur is a navy bean with medium maturity, very erect, tall growth, and good resistance to lodging.
Frontier (1997)
Frontier is a late maturing pinto bean with large seed size and resistance to 39 rust races. Upright growth with good total plant dry down at harvest.

Maverick (1996)
Maverick is a medium early, semi-prostrate pinto bean with maturity similar to Othello.
Resistant to rust but susceptible to BCMV. Small seed size with canning quality better than

Norstar (1991)
Norstar is a medium early maturing navy bean. It has an upright, short (Type II) architecture and carries its pod load slightly higher than Type I varieties grown in ND. It has less tendency to lodge. Crop Sci. 1993 33: 1405-a-1406-a.
Hatton (1995)
Hatton is a ealy maturing pinto bean. It has viny growth vine. It carries resistance to BCMV. Crop Sci. 1997 37: 288
Nodak (1984)
Nodak is a traditional, prostrate, type III pinto line with indeterminate growth habit. It is early season line maturing in 88-94 day. Nodak is resistant to root rot and susceptible to rust, white mold, common blight and brown spot. Nodak normally produces small seed. Nodak was released with cooperation of NDSU, and USDA WA.
