COURSE OBJECTIVES
I. Students will be able to identify and know the use of major forage crops.
II. Understand principles and techniques of OPTIMUM management of forage crops, including
a. Stand establishment
b. Forage quality
c. Weed control/fertilization
d. Harvest management
e. Environmental effects
III. Students should understand crop rotations and be able to develop good rotations.
IV. Students should understand forage crop preservation (hay/silage).
V. Students should understand economics of forage crop production.
VI. Discuss undesirable constituents of forage crops and ways to decrease problems.
VII. Discuss inoculation and N2 fixation.
VIII. Discuss conservational uses of forage crops.
