International Wolf Center

In January 2007, a group of NRM Club members traveled to the International Wolf Center in Ely, Minnesota, to learn first-hand about the largest members of the canid family.

The center is home to four wolves known as the "Ambassador Wolves."  These residents live in an adjacent wooded area and can be observed day and night from a large viewing window.  The resident wolves were born in captivity but have contributed greatly to the study of how the species communicates, plays, hunts and eats.  The staff of the center presented information on wolf research, management and recovery.

The International Wolf Center's mission is to advance the survival of wolf populations by teaching about wolves, their relationship to wild lands and the human role in their future
