NOTE: Data
will be posted as it is completed.
Research plots were planted on fallow and recrop
land. All received fertilizer for high yield goals. The soil from
each site was sampled and analyzed for the amount of nitrogen, phosphorus, and
potash available for crops. The seed used in the plots was cleaned and treated
with a fungicide. Seeding rates were adjusted for seed size, purity, and
germination to equalize the number of pure live seeds per acre for each variety.
The small grain plots were seeded with a research press drill with 6-inch row
spacing. Each variety or treatment was grown in three or more plots, to further
reduce differences due to undetectable soil and fertility variations.
Since other unknown factors can affect yield, the data is
analyzed statistically to show the difference in yield required to reflect a
true difference in yield capacity. These figures are given below each table as
"LSD 5% - bushels or pounds." For example, Hard Red Spring Wheat on
Fallow indicates an LSD 5% of 4.0 bushels - if there is a difference greater
than 4.0 bushels between two varieties, then they are significantly different
95% of the time under these growing conditions. NS means there is no significant
difference between varieties.
