Plant Diagnostic Lab

Special tests not listed below may be available by arrangement. Contact information for the lab is below, left. Fees listed are valid through December 31, 2009.

NDSU Plant Diagnostic Lab Fees

  • Routine diagnosis: ND Resident $15; Out of State $25
    • Analysis by visual examination, microscopy, or routine culture
  • Non-routine Diagnosis - Routine diagnosis fee + $15: $30
    • Analysis by culture with special media containing antibiotics
    • Dutch elm disease tests
  • ELISA (serological test for certain plant pathogenic viruses, fungi, or bacteria): $35 for first sample
    • $5 for each additional sample, same pathogen
  • Plant or insect identification: $15
  • Mold identification (limited; commercial kits not accepted): $30
  • Nematode - sieve method (for cysts; # eggs+J2 reported): $25
  • Soil Bioassay - Rhizomania (BNYVV): $110
  • Soil Bioassay - Root rot index (Aphanomyces): $110
  • IFA for ash yellows phytoplasma (for research samples only): $35
  • Potato tuber/storage/soft rots evaluation: $35 (min. 30-40 lbs)
  • Gene-based PCR assay (contact us for availability): $35
