The NDSU Plant Diagnostic Lab does not offer chemical residue analysis for herbicides or other possible contaminants. We offer herbicide injury evaluation based on visual symptoms only. By itself, a visual evaluation for herbicide injury may not be able to determine precise chemistries, and it may not be definitive. However, based on symptoms, herbicide chemical families can sometimes be identified. A visual evaluation can be helpful if it can narrow chemical possibilities to help reduce costs in circumstances that require chemical analyses.
