Extension

The objectives of the NDSU Extension Service's role in the Midwest Biotechnology Consortium include the active engagement of youth and adults in educational activities that occur outside of a formal classroom setting. Targeted audiences for adult extension activities include, but are not limited to, agricultural producers, nutrition and health professionals, food processors and distributors, clientele of market development organizations, environmental and consumer groups, policymakers, media, and the general public. Targeted youth audiences include 4-H clubs and other youth organizations. Extension educators include employees of the USDA Cooperative Extension Service and other educators of youth and adults in nonformal settings.

A major objective of the consortium is to provide informational resources (such as this website) for extension personnel and other educators to use in presenting workshops and facilitating local discussions of biotechnology with youth and adult audiences. A second major objective is to offer workshop training in the effective use of these informational resources.
