SORGHUM

North Dakota State University does not have an active Sorghum breeding effort and has not recently released any Sorghum varieties. North Dakota growers who want to purchase Sorghum Foundation seed can contact Foundation Seedstocks, Fargo, ND at (701) 231-8140 for assistance in locating a source of Foundation seed of public varieties.

AGRONOMIC DESCRIPTIONS

CARMAN Sorghum

MIDAK Sorghum
Midak was one of 3 open pollinated grain sorghum varieties jointly developed and released by USDA and NDSU. It matured earlier than Norghum which was too late to mature in ND. Midak has a small semi-dense to slightly open head and produces medium to small-sized seeds. Midak tended to lodge.

NORDAK Sorghum

NORGHUM Sorghum
A combine-type grain sorghum developed by SD and released in 1949.
