RE: Seed Allotments Distributed to CCIA                     cc: Dr. C. Gustafson
and NDAA for 2000                                                    Dr. A. Schneiter
FROM: Galen L. Schroeder, Foundation Seedstocks          Dr. L. Spilde
                                                                                          Dr. M. Peel
                                                                                          Mr. K. Bertsch
                                                                                          Mr. B. Kuntz

The Seed Allocation Committee met on February 7, 2000 to consider the six new varieties that are being distributed to the CCIA and the NDAA this year. As indicated in an e-mail message to the County Agents on February 14th, the allocations have been posted to the Foundation Seedstocks Web page. Go to:
                          www.ag.ndsu.nodak.edu/aginfo/seedstock/
Look under "Direct to What's New" on the opening page.   It is important for you to accept or decline all or part of your allotments as soon as possible so that seed can be re-allocated.  I know that short deadlines create problems on your end.  However, it would be appreciated if you could have your confirmations to us by March 1.  If your county wants more seed of a variety than what you were allocated, please call, voice-mail or e-mail me (231-9633) to place your name on a waiting list for more bushels if they become available.

We will be reprinting the Seed Increase Agreement and will mail the forms as soon as they are available. When you confirm acceptance of your allotments it would be helpful if you can give us some idea of the number of forms you will need this year. Completed Seed Increase Agreements with payments must be returned to FSS before we start moving seed between the Research Centers.

A few important points pertaining to allotments of Alsen HRSW:

  1. Most of the Alsen is currently in Bulk. That will be our "preferred" method of delivery if possible; however
2. Price of Alsen will be: ¬ $17.55 per bushel Bagged   ¬ $16.00 per bushel Bulk

With the mild winter and prospects for an earlier, drier spring, it will be important to have the seed available for pickup by your Increase Growers as early as possible. Prompt CCIA responses regarding acceptance of allotments and return of the Seed Increase Agreements will facilitate meeting the challenges we face in delivering the number of varieties and the volumes of seed being released in 2000.
