ALSEN HRSW
(Proposed name for HRSW Experimental Line ND716)
Description and Data Summary

ALSEN HRSW is the first NDSU HRSW variety release that is classified as resistant to Fusarium Head Blight (FHB, scab).  It is an awned, semidwarf variety with excellent lodging and satisfactory shattering resistance.  It has good test weight and yield potential in eastern ND especially under FHB pressure, but it is not competitive with high yielding spring wheats in western ND with no FHB pressure.  ALSEN heading date and plant height is similar to Grandin; yields are similar to Gunner and 2375.  It is resistant to stem and leaf rust and moderately resistant to Tan Spot.  Milling performance, dough properties and baking quality is satisfactory.

Application will be made for Plant Variety Protection with Title V Restrictions.  The price of Foundation seed to the counties will be $17.55 per bushel.
