NDCISA is a non-profit organization supported by county dues, certified seed grower membership and check-offs from the seed increase program.  NDCISA works closely with the Experiment Stations, State Seed, and the Extension Service to promote general crop improvement practices and increase varieties best adapted to the state, and to make the seed easily available to the farmers of the state. NDCISA actively supports research, extension and educational programs at NDSU and throughout the state.  We encourage the development and implementation of practical and scientific crop production practices.  We serve as a communication link for North Dakota crop producers in legislative matters relating to production and marketing of their commodities.  We sponsor youth activities such as the 4-H crops judging contest at the North Dakota Winter Show NDCISA has been instrumental in the production, and distribution of new varieties.  We coordinate with the Foundation Seedstocks project and county Crop/Ag Improvement Associations during new variety releases and increases.  Through certified seed promotional money, we encourage the use of quality seed with an advertising campaign, promotional give-aways, and crop shows.By position, the President of NDCISA is placed on several committees.  He is a member of the Seed Commission, the Variety Release Committee, the North Dakota Ag Coalition, and the Spring Wheat Quality Advisory Committee, and an auxiliary member of the Northern Crop Institute.  Other committees and policy makers often call on the board in an advisory capacity. Each member county of NDCISA is given four voting delegates at their district and state meeting.  Each vote plays a vital role in policy decision-making.  The votes and members have considerable influence on the Board of Directors who subsequently have an influence on North Dakota agriculture.  By being a member of NDCISA, you and your county have a "voice" in several groups involved in North Dakota agriculture.

In these changing times, the agricultural community needs to remain unified and strong, NDCISA is a strong, supportive group that will fight for the North Dakota farmer.
