Dilse was released by the North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station in the spring of 2002. Dilse was selected from a cross between Maier and D88273.

Dilse is a high quality durum variety with high protein content and gluten strength as well as good pasta color and firmness. Dilse is high yielding, with yields at most locations similar to that of Ben, but slightly less than Mountrail and Lebsock. Dilse is similar in height to Pierce and Mountrail and has good resistance to leaf and stem rust. Dilse has a similar maturity to that of Mountrail and is slightly later than Pierce, Ben and Lebsock. Dilse has good lodging resistance.

Application for Plant Variety Protection with the Title V provision will be made and Dilse may be sold only as a class of certified seed.
