Rhizomania

Rhizomania is not a bean disease. It is a sugarbeet viral disease carried by a common soil fungus. The pathogen has been identified in fields used for production of bean seeds in other states and may be introduced into North Dakota in soil-contaminated seed. If North Dakota bean growers obtain seed from private sources, they should check with the producing state's Department of Agriculture to ensure the seed is from an area without the pathogen.
