Beans are legumes. Inoculating with bean group rhizobia before seeding will establish root nodules. Do not apply N.P.K. fertilizer with bean seed. Test soil for zinc. In soil having less than 1.0 P.P.M. zinc, apply 3-6 lbs. zinc as zinc sulfate or 0.4-0.8 lb/A zinc as zinc chelates. Post emergence zinc application of 0.2 lb. ZN as foliar spray during the first six weeks may also give good results.
