Irrigation

    Irrigation was used on 8% of Northarvest respondents' acres (Table 3), up from 6% in 1995 and comparable to 9% in 1994. Irrigation was used on 23% of Minnesota respondents' acres, up from 14% in 1995 but less than the 27% figure in 1994 and 40% in 1992 (2,6,7 ). MN2 had the highest percentage of irrigated acres, with 76% of respondents acres irrigated. Irrigation on only 3% of North Dakota respondents' acres was similar to the irrigated acreage in 1995. ND5 had the highest percentage of irrigated acres in North Dakota, but only 16% of respondents' acres in that district were irrigated.
