Leaf Rust

Symptoms

Small, yellow-brown spots appear on the leaf blades and sheaths. Heavily spotted leaves turn yellow or brown prematurely. Darker brown spots sometimes appear shortly before harvest.

Caused by Puccinia hordei

Control measures are:

• Resistant varieties
• Use of fungicides (may not be economical)
