A display of various types of barley

BARLEY TYPES

Barley has been grown under cultivation for thousands of years and transported around the world. During that time mutation and evolution have resulted in diverse morphologic characters.

The wheel of barleys shown here demonstrate some of the 37 recognised characters in representatives of the world collection

Among the characters are black barley, awnless, hooded, 2 row, 6 row, different awn lengths and different spike lengths.
