Ordering Software & Hardware

During your work at NDSU you may find that you will need software or hardware installations or upgrades. ACCS is able to assist you within the baseline guidelines.

Pending approval from your supervisor, there are a number of options for ordering hardware and software.

Ordering Software

On Campus:

All on-campus departments are now required to order software directly through ITS. ACCS technicians will not be able to install software prior to ordering as they were sometimes able to in the past. You can access the necessary ordering information and forms at the ITS Software Licensing Page (http://its.ndsu.nodak.edu/software_licensing/software.html).

County & REC Offices:

Due to the fact that County Extension Offices & RECs do not have specific software contacts, they are asked to contact Blair at 231-9666 to place all necessary software orders. As with on-campus departments, technicians will be unable to install any software prior to orders being placed.

Please note that some types of software like Adobe are only ordered twice a month and Macromedia is only ordered when enough requests have been received. If you need these programs, be sure to get your order request in as early as possible!

Please note that the software purchased through ACCS / ITS / HECN does not include user manuals, CDs, etc. If we provide you a CD to install it yourself, you are required to return the CD as soon as you are finished. You are not allowed to copy the CD or install it on any additional computers.

Ordering Hardware

With the resignation of Dave Jacobs, we do not have a specific hardware contact person for the near future. While we continue to work on this issue, if you have any immediate needs for baseline hardware, please contact your ACCS technician for assistance.

Please note that at this time ACCS is not able to purchase or support non-baseline devices. These include but are not limited to: handheld PDAs, GPS devices, web cams, lab equipment, etc...

You may view the baseline at: http://www.ag.ndsu.nodak.edu/policy/it/hardware.htm

Items of Interest

  • Software prices can be found at the HECN software licensing website
  • Purchase of software through NDSU is much less expensive than the state or retail stores
  • Software purchases through NDSU DO NOT include a CD or manuals
  • McAfee Anti-Virus is provided at NO COST to employees for work and home computers

You can reach the ACCS Helpdesk at accs@ndsuext.nodak.edu (231-9666).

For additional information or clarification on ordering procedures, please contact AgComm Director Becky Koch at bkoch@ndsuext.nodak.edu (231-7875)
