This is a setting that will reduce the amount of "eye candy"
on your desktop and in turn increase your computer's performance.
There are two ways to get to this setting.
In the first method, RIGHT click on My Computer. In the context
menu that appears, click on Properties.
You will see a window titled System Properties. In this window,
click on the Advanced tab.
Under the Performance heading, click on the Settings button.
You will now see another window titled Performance Options.
Select the radio button labeled Adjust for best performance.
Now, click OK, and then click OK again. You're done!
The second method is for those of you who do not have a My
Computer icon on the desktop.
To begin, click on the Start button.
Now select Settings, and Control Panel.
The Control Panel window should now appear. In this window,
DOUBLE click on System.
You will see a window titled System Properties. In this window,
click on the Advanced tab.
Under the Performance heading, click on the Settings button.
You will now see another window titled Performance Options.
Select the radio button labeled Adjust for best performance.
Now, click OK, and then click OK again. You're done!
Please note that this option is NOT available in Windows 98,
ME, or 2000. |
