Both
e-mail systems at NDSU provide some form of spam filtering.
In both
cases, rather than remove the offending messages, they will
mark the subject. In order to prevent these messages from showing
up in your new mail folder, you will need to create a mail filter
in Pegasus.
To create a folder, follow these steps:
- Start
Pegasus by clicking on the Pegasus Mail icon.
- At the
top of the screen, click on the 'Tools' menu option. Then
select
'Mail filtering rules' -> 'Edit new mail filtering
rules' -> 'Rules applied when folder is opened'.
- A screen
called 'New mail filtering rules' will open. Click on 'Add
rule'
at the top and then click on 'Headers'
- Under
'If any of these headers' click on the box next to Subject
- If you
are using ndsuext.nodak.edu mail, in 'Contains this text'
enter: {Spam?}
If you are using ndsu.edu mail, in 'Contains this
text' enter: ***HECN SPAM Alert***
- Next
to 'Action' select Move.
- Click
on the 'Set' button. A screen called 'Select a mail folder'
should now appear.
- Click
on the 'new' button to create a new folder
- Name
the folder SPAM and click OK
- Double
click on the 'SPAM' folder and click OK
- Finally,
click on 'Save' in the toolbar to save the filter. Now
click 'Close'.
Please
note that you should check your SPAM folder from time to
time for mislabeled messages. We also recommend you clean
out your SPAM folder on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to
keep the folder size down.
